With its exotic names and logos, the Unrivaled league takes inspiration from football

Next January the first season of the league will be launched Unrivaleda 3×3 championship created by and for WNBA stars. It will kick off on January 17, 2025 with six teams of five players in a single location: Miami. On Thursday, the leaders of this league revealed the names of the six franchises, and since they are not linked to any particular city, this gives the Laces, the Lunar Owls, the Mist, the Rose, the Phantom and the Vinyl.

“In the absence of affiliation with a city, we had to anchor our teams in what makes women’s basketball unique: the community,” explains management. “In the world's greatest sport, football, football clubs represent unity and community around the game – a unique crest that unifies the players and fans who have been there since the beginning. In professional basketball leagues, clubs do not yet exist, but we are changing that. We are starting a new trend this week and we invite you to imagine with us what is possible for the future of our basketball clubs. »

A golden bridge for Caitlin Clark

Notably created by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, this championship has already attracted Angel Reese, Jewell Loyd and Arike Ogunbowale.

For the moment, Caitlin Clark reserves her answer, but there is talk of a million dollar offer to convince her to participate in the first season. This is four times the best salary in the WNBA, and more than ten times his salary as a rookie.
