Facing the Suns deprived of Bradley Beal (touched in the elbow), the Clippers started the meeting very well with an active defense. They put their hands everywhere, steal balls and with a successful James Harden, they go 12-0 to take off in the first quarter (37-20). There is a little more hesitation with the replacements, especially when Kevin Porter Jr. makes bad passes, but with the return of James Harden and with Norman Powell's 3-point shots, the Clippers are breathing easier again (70 -52).
After the break, Kevin Durant and company do better than react since they won't miss a shot for almost ten minutes! They will go on to an incredible 15/15, before a first failure less than three minutes from the end of the third quarter. Obviously, when we don't miss a shot, we come back, thanks to a 17-3. Everything has to be done again for Tyronn Lue's men, powerless in the face of this diabolical success (93-91).
In the final act, the Suns managed to offer themselves several open shots, for Devin Booker or for Royce O'Neale. It falls in and against a Californian team struggling to score points, against a good defense from Phoenix, it is enough to win (119-125) even though it was off to a bad start at the break. Third victory in a row for Mike Budenholzer's troops, when the Clippers look gloomy with a second setback in a row.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The Suns’ third quarter. This is the turning point of the match. The Clippers take a 21-point lead in the first seconds of the second half and the Suns will come back little by little without missing a beat. They will go up to a superb 15/15! Result: a quarter-time with 39 points at 16/20 shooting including 7/11 at 3-pts. More skillful at the start, Tyronn Lue's men did not maintain this crazy pace and let go of their lead, before cracking in the last quarter.
– Devin Booker wins his duel against James Harden. The bearded man spared no effort with 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. But it was sometimes messy, like his 3/10 at 3-pts or his 6 lost balls. Opposite, Devin Booker increased the pressure throughout the match to shine after the break. The guard scored 25 points in the second half alone and finished with 40 units and 8 assists, 11/18 on the shoot and 5/9 on 3-pts.
