The meeting started without much rhythm, despite Bilal Coulibaly already very active in defense. In attack, for him and his teammates, it is more complicated. The Lakers' zone defense has its effect, the Wizards are clumsy and after two winning shots from Dorian Finney-Smith, the Californians take control (29-23). LeBron James and Anthony Davis have easy access to the circle even if, sometimes, Alexandre Sarr makes his presence speak. At the end of the first period, the Lakers stole several balls in a row and transformed them into points (59-49).
The break doesn't change anything, despite Alex Sarr's efforts, JJ Redick's troops are on top. There is certainly a small period of less good, with a 12-3 from the Wizards, but nothing to worry about (89-77). Especially since by still losing too many balls, the players from the capital give some breathing room to the Lakers, who can make a real gap in the last quarter.
So much so that, after grabbing one last rebound to validate his triple-double, LeBron James can look at his bench and ask to come out: he and his team did the job by winning 111-88.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– A success without forcing. If there is a good team against which JJ Redick's players have, at least, a little margin, it is Washington. They didn't really need to accelerate, just took advantage of the opponent's clumsiness (25% at 3-pts) and stole a few possessions here and there, to make the difference and win.
– A “block party” organized in Los Angeles. There were counters in this game, 18 in total. On the Los Angeles side, Anthony Davis repelled 4 shots and Max Christie 3. For Washington, it was Alex Sarr who stood out with 5 blocks. Bilal Coulibaly also participated with two to his count. The two Frenchmen, very active in this meeting, compiled 27 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 blocks.
– LeBron James’ triple-double. It's a habit for him. With 21 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, the star had a very good game and a triple-double (the 121st of his career, the 9th this season). With Anthony Davis, he was present in the good moments of the Lakers and even put on a show with his big alley-oop on the head of Jonas Valanciunas.
