Back-to-back, the Kings had all the difficulty in the world to get rid of the Jazz. It still took a big De'Aaron Fox (49 points) to carry Sacramento, deprived of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan or Malik Monk…
The leader is thus in the oven and in the mill from the start, while Lauri Markkanen and his teammates keep up the pace. In a match where the first defensive curtains had all the difficulty in the world to hold the shock, the individuals can stand out, and no team manages to make the difference at the break (64-63).
Problem for the Kings: in this fast-paced match, the slightest drop in speed from De'Aaron Fox is paid for, and it is thus the Jazz which takes the lead in the third quarter, behind in particular the impact of Keyonte George .
However, there is no question for the local All-Star to let a second consecutive match slip away. He will thus resume his work in the last quarter, benefiting from the occasional help of his “role players”, such as Trey Lyles, Isaac Jones or even Jordan McLaughlin, author of a decisive 3-points as the the last minute.
Despite everything, the Kings will tremble until the end (121-117) before managing to win at the end of the night.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– De'Aaron Fox in the footsteps of Kobe Bryant. 109 points scored in two days. After 60 points in the defeat against the Wolves, the leader spent 49 points back-to-back at the Jazz, to reach the highest scoring total over two days since 2007. Obviously, at the time, it was was Kobe Bryant who was in charge…
– A messy and interminable end to the match. Despite his offensive work, De'Aaron Fox could blame himself at the end. His missed free throw left Utah alive in the money-time, and he couldn't kill the game on the next possession either. More fear than harm, however, while Jazz failed to take advantage, after two interminable last minutes. Between the referees' replays, the free throws and the timeouts, these last two minutes lasted more than twenty minutes.
– Jordan Clarkson misses. Utah still had a chance, trailing by two points (117-119) with three seconds remaining. After making his first shot, Jordan Clarkson had to miss the second, hoping for an offensive rebound. Except he threw the ball on the boards, without touching the circle, giving the ball back to the Kings.
