Will Otto Porter Jr. play with the Jazz?

Two weeks ago, during the trade deadline, Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji were sent to Toronto against Otto Porter Jr. and Kira Lewis. Since this transfer, the interior has not yet played with his new team, the Jazz, which prefers to rely on its youth. And it's not certain that he will one day wear the Utah jersey. Exactly like Russell Westbrook last season.

The Athletic tells us in fact that he will stay at home to think about his future. The 2022 NBA champion with Golden State will therefore not be in uniform this Thursday evening, against Charlotte. Our colleagues make it clear that the 30-year-old player has no physical problems. He is healthy and could play.

He must therefore choose between continuing the adventure in Salt Lake City or negotiating a “ buyout“, a breach of contract, to free yourself and go play elsewhere. But he must make his decision quickly, within a week, because he must sign with his new team before March 1 if he wants to play in the playoffs afterwards.

Valuable in the Warriors' conquest of the title in 2022, Otto Porter Jr. struggled to continue in Toronto afterwards, weighed down by physical problems. But in full possession of his means, with his physique, his defense and his distance skills, he can provide good services coming off the bench in an ambitious team.

Buyout : amicable termination of contract. The player is released from his contract with severance pay which can reach the entire remainder of his contract. The player then becomes a free agent, and can sign elsewhere.
