Will Kevin Durant extend his contract before the start of the season?

Crowned with his new title of Olympic champion, his fourth in a row, won this summer in Paris and at now 36 years old, Kevin Durant enters his 18th season in the NBA. In theory, he will reach the milestone of 19 seasons in the league since he is under contract until 2026.

What if the adventure continued for another year to reach two decades in the NBA? This is possible because the Suns winger is currently eligible for a one-season extension (no more, as he will be 38 years old at the end of his current contract), to the tune of $59.7 million. Does he already want to extend?

“I still have two years of contract. I am focused on being the best every day. We will take care of that in due time.”, answers Kevin Durant.

However, time is running out because you have to sign before October 21 and the start of the regular season. The desire of the franchise is clear: keep the best scorer in the history of Team USA for as long as possible.

“Everyone talks about Kevin Durant and he loves being here. We love it,” assures the owner, Mat Ishbia. “We talk with him and his agent, Rich Kleiman, all the time. We're not talking about extensions publicly but I'll say this: Kevin loves being here, we love him, we want him to stay. Nothing has changed on that front. »

Same speech from the Suns GM. “We love having him with us and we want him to be here. We will find a way to do it even if, as Mat Ishbia said, we don't talk about it openly. The thing we want to say is that we really wish he was with us.”concludes James Jones.
