Absent from the NBA benches for a year, James Borrego could find them soon. According to Nets Dailythe Nets are at “ 100% interested in the former Hornets and Magic coach to make him Jacque Vaughn’s main assistant. Information that confirms a rumor mentioned by journalist Marc Stein, who also mentions an interest from the Mavs, Pelicans or even the Rockets.
This supposed interest is mentioned when the New Yorkers have just separated from three assistants: Igor Kokoskov, Brian Keefe and Tiago Splitter. Confirmed in his position, Jacque Vaughn is no doubt looking for experienced technicians whom he would have chosen himself and with whom he is close.
James Borrego would fit this profile since, after starting his career as an assistant with the Hornets more than ten years ago, he had his first short experience as a “head coach” in Orlando (10 wins – 20 losses in 2014-15 ) taking the place of… Jacque Vaughn, dismissed during the season and of which he was the first assistant. Above all, he was then a coach in Charlotte (138 wins – 163 losses between 2018 and 2022).
