Will Dennis Schröder finally be able to settle down?

It's an early Christmas present for Warriors fans and Steve Kerr: the arrival of Dennis Schröderfrom the Nets. The German leader hoped to be part of the Brooklyn reconstruction project for the long term, and here he arrives at a club with much more short-term ambition, in his favorite city in the United States: San Francisco.

As this is his eighth team in eight years, it is not certain that he will stay there long, but Mike Dunleavy Jr assures him otherwise. “I don’t think the intention is a short-term agreement” assures the GM of the Warriors. “Given Dennis' age, we believe he still has some very good years left in him, and we will have the opportunity to re-sign him after the season. Again, we think it's a good fit for us, on both ends of the floor. I hope there will be a relationship here that lasts more than a few months. »

The Warriors couldn't wait for February…

A speech that will please the German, but it's a bit what he hears every year, wherever he goes, and ultimately, he is taken from franchise to franchise…

“Anytime you give something away — and in this case we're giving up a little bit of Draft capital — the intention is not to do a short-term deal.” insists Mike Dunleavy Jr, who also talks about the timing of this arrival. “We felt like we couldn’t wait until February to do it. Dennis visibly available, and inclined to come to us, we wanted to move quickly and do it immediately.”

As Steve Kerr explained, it was necessary to compensate, as quickly as possible, for the long-term absence of De'Anthony Melton.

“Clearly, with (Melton’s) injury, it became apparent that we needed to strengthen our backcourt,” concludes the GM. “His dribbling will help Steph and Brandin. And especially when Steph isn't on the court, we think his ability to play the pick-and-roll, to create, just to initiate plays — that extra dimension on offense is going to give us a boost. »
