Will Barton heads to Russia

Since the war in Ukraine and the imprisonment of Brittney Griner, American basketball players have been advised to avoid Russia. In fact, very, very few of them have signed there over the past two years.

It is therefore with surprise that we have just learned that Will Barton was engaged with the CSKA Moscow !

The former Blazers and Nuggets winger, who played 679 games in the NBA, averaging 11.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists, is therefore a big catch for the Moscow club, where he will join his compatriots Casper Ware and Melo Trimble, as well as the French Amath M'baye and Livio Jean-Charles.

“First of all, I am grateful to have the opportunity to play for this team” explains the 33-year-old in a press release. “I have only heard good things about the club and the supporters. I am very happy to have the chance to meet my teammates, the coaches, the fans, the organization and the wonderful people of Moscow. I am ready to invest a lot of time and effort to fight and win at the highest level. I can’t wait to come and start working.”

After finishing last season in Toronto, Will Barton did not find a place in the NBA this season. At CSKA Moscow, he will have to settle for the Russian championship because the club is still excluded from the Euroleague.
