The Kings are still waiting for Zach Lavine, following the departure of De'Aaron Fox, while the Wolves must evolve without Julius Randle, hit in the groin. It is Naz Reid who takes his place in the major five and it is he who shines most in this first quarter. The interior is blurring from afar and, seconded by Rudy Gobert, it is he who carries Minnesota. But opposite, the Sacramento players are skillful (34-38). Minnesota's attack will suffer with replacements, chaining failed shots. The Kings keep control at the break (59-67).
Anthony Edwards tries to ring the revolt by stealing two balloons in a row for two easy baskets in the third quarter. Except that, this desire, this defense does not hold. The efforts are not maintained and the Kings can therefore keep their hands (86-88) and then drive the nail in the last quarter, with Malik Monk and especially DEROZAN.
The latter hurts a lot with his shoots halfway. The Wolves are three points behind six seconds from the end when Jaden McDaniels loses the ball, which buries the hopes of his team. Anthony Edwards can mark 3-PTS in the buzzer, that does not change anything and the Kings won 114-116.
What to remember
– Rudy Gobert makes the efforts in the midst of an intermittent defense. The Frenchman was particularly stirring, fighting in the rebound and being present in attack, to finish with 19 points, with his 13 rebounds (7 offensive). But his teammates struggled to keep up on the full meeting. The Wolves defended at times and faced with an attack as good as that of Sacramento, that cannot be enough to hope to win.
– A Demar derozan show. The back of the Kings, who probably does not see a good eye the departure of Fox but is delighted to find Lavine, was very, very good. He did not lose a ball and was excellent, as usual, halfway. In the last quarter, helped by Malik Monk, he demoralized his opponents and finished with 33 points at 14/25 in the shoot, 7 passes and 5 rebounds.
