It’s not just Nikola Jokic who has been lining up monstrous stats lately. In Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis continued his build tonight by posting his second triple-double of the season with 13 points, 21 rebounds and 12 assists in the 134-120 win over the Lakers.
For four games, his line of stats is crazy (21.3 points, 19.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists on average). It is indeed the first player to accumulate 75 rebounds and 30 assists in four games since Wes Unseld in 1970!
” It is surprising. It’s easier when you get defensive stops. When the opponent misses, it’s more likely for me to get a rebound. When he scores, I can only go get the ball under the circle,” did he declare before commenting on his state of form, perhaps the best of his career. ” I think yes. I’m just here, doing my job. The coaches put me in a good position and I try to take advantage of it, and the team has done a good job this summer putting shooters alongside me, so it makes my job easier.
A historical series
Four other players in history have achieved such a feat: Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Maurice Stokes. For his coach, it’s a fair reward for his hard work.
“He’s been flirting with triple-doubles all season, so it’s great that he’s gotten one as pronounced as tonight.”, rejoiced Mike Brown. “He ripped off the rebound, the guy just plays so hard, and there’s no doubt about it because it shows in everything he does on the court. Even if he didn’t make those stats, the toughness he plays with is unbelievable. It’s phenomenal for us.”
Domantas Sabonis is also on his ninth consecutive double-double, for a total of 22 this season. No one is doing better than him, with Nikola Jokic (21) being right behind him.
The double confrontation that is looming between Sacramento and Denver on December 27 and 28 will be worth the detour!
