Warriors extend Moses Moody until 2028

Author of a good preseason with an average of 16 points, Moses Moody is part of the new wave of Warriors, and ESPN announces that he has just won a three-year, $39 million extension. In the last year of his rookie contract, the young winger is now linked to Golden State until 2028.

Four days ago, we were talking about a salary around “ mid-level exception“, and the rumors were right. “ We always liked his character, his work ethic. It's the best level of confidence he's ever had. We drafted him for his size, strength and shooting ability. It seems stronger to me. He worked hard and he deserved it » Steve Kerr said this week.

Called upon to play a bigger role this season, Moses Moody joins the exclusive club of players drafted in 2021 already extended. There we find Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Franz Wagner, but also Scottie Barnes. Will the next one be Jonathan Kuminga? The Warriors winger could land a contract in the region of $110 million over four years by Monday night, or wait until the summer of 2025 to sign a much bigger contract.

Mid-level exception : envelope of approximately 13 million dollars available each year to recruit all NBA franchises which do not pay luxury tax. They can use it on one or more players. A team that has to pay the luxury tax only has 9 million. Since 2023/24, if a team significantly exceeds the high bar of the salary cap (by more than 17.5 million dollars), it loses its “mid-level exception”.
