It's been a year now, to the day, that Dejan Milojevic died suddenly at the age of 46 following a cardiac arrest in Salt Lake City, where Warriors were supposed to face the Jazz.
Twelve months later, to pay tribute to his late Serbian assistant, the “Dubs” announced the establishment of a prize, which will now reward a member of their staff.
Entitled the “Dejan Milojevic Brate Award”, notably because “Brate” means “brother” in Serbian, therefore symbolizing the contribution of Dejan Milojević with regard to camaraderie, loyalty and relationships, this trophy will be awarded each year to Golden State.
Close to Steve Kerr, whom he supported at the Warriors, “Deki” had already received a vibrant tribute, a few days after his death, from the Californian franchise, particularly touched by this death at the heart of the last season. Also very linked to Kevon Looney, whom he helped with his science of rebounding, he had won the NBA title in 2022, after being hired in 2021 by the gang of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
