Warriors confident about Stephen Curry's future

With the departure of Klay Thompson, the Warriors are changing their face a bit this summer. The trio he formed with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green no longer exists and it is now the point guard who will be the only and most important character in Golden State. He already was a bit of course, but it will strengthen even more.

Still for at least two seasons since the 2022 Finals MVP (36 years old) is under contract until 2026. He can even sign a one-year extension during this offseason, which is not ruled out yet but does not seem imminent.

“He can get whatever he wants,” says the franchise's GMMike Dunleavy. “It's been a sprint up until now, with the draft and the market opening, and then Summer League, but we're going to put it all together. Stephen Curry, I think I can say with confidence, is going to be a Warrior for life.”

For this, even if the player is loyal to his franchise, we must continue to surround him well to allow him to play for the title. “With Stephen Curry and Draymond Green still at the top level, we have to be careful about the decisions we make to aim for the title. We want to win.”he specifies.

A changing team

This summer, with the departure of the second “Splash Brother”, the 2022 champions changed direction and signed Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield and De'Anthony Melton. It was time to move.

“It would have been complicated to come back with the same team because even if we won 46 matches, which is not so bad, we did not make the playoffs”recalls the leader. “But not everything was broken either. We just needed to make some corrections. We were able to do that.”

Are there any further changes to be expected? “Free agency is calmer, we have 14 players under contract and there is the first apron (financial limits)so it will be difficult,” Mike Dunleavy answers. “But we always look to do better. I like our team but we can still improve.”
