Walt Frazier says Jalen Brunson can become the best player in Knicks history

At 79, Walt “Clyde” Frazier remains one of the Knicks’ greatest legends. Not for his comments and his colorful costumes, but because he won the franchise’s only two titles in 1970 and 1973. Since then, he’s still waiting for successors, and he thinks this is the right season to go for that third NBA title.

“I feel the good vibes”, he confided on Friday. “I see a lot of similarities with our championship teams, starting with the coach because Tom Thibodeau is a lot like Red Holzman. He holds the players accountable, they're defensive-oriented and the players like each other. I think this is our year. Obviously, health is going to play a big part. But if the Knicks can stay healthy, I think we can get back to the greatness we used to be.”

Present for the launch of Fanatics Fest NYC, alongside Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, but also Ben Stiller and Spike Lee, Frazier paid tribute to Brunson.

“We know that in this town, expectations are always sky-high, and by rising to the occasion the first two years, accepting the challenge, and catapulting the team, he clearly has a chance to be one of the greatest Knicks of all time, if not the greatest Knick of all time.”Frazier says. “Since I couldn't attend his induction as captain, I made a video and told him that he reminded me a lot of Willis Reed. They are both left-handed, they both have a tenacious work ethic, they are always sharing and helping each other, and the collective first. They always think of the team, not themselves.”
