Vince Carter explains why he never set foot in the Hall Of Fame

Like Penny Hardaway, Shawn Marion, Chauncey Billups or even the “Redeem Team”, Vince Carter could enter the Hall Of Fame in 2024. The selection committee will meet to establish the list of the lucky ones, and we will have to wait until April, and the NCAA Final Four, to find out if the former Raptors dunker will enter at the Pantheon.

In the meantime, he is already very proud to be nominated. “ It’s an incredible honor to be at this point. You never know what will happen. Some say it's a foregone conclusion. I do not know. But it’s already a foot in the door” explains the man who played 22 NBA seasons. A record!

A “foot in the door” of a Pantheon he has never entered! Yet former teammates have been inducted in recent years, like Dirk Nowitzki and Tracy McGrady, but Vince Carter seems superstitious.

His mom is very proud of him!

” I've never been there “, he confirms to the New York Post. “I just said I'd wait.” I almost went there. I was asked to go there last year for Dirk [Nowitzki], but I didn't go there. For Tracy McGrady too, I didn't go there. I said I would wait. »

This is why he doesn't burst into flames, unlike his mother… “My mom said, ‘Oh, congratulations. I am so happy'. Whereas I just replied that it was cool” he says. “I'm sure she's in a funk at home. But this is only the beginning. Now that I know I'm nominated, it's different. And when it really does, I’ll be ready.”
