Like every year, the NBA franchises wait until the day before the start of the summer leagues to sign their rookies, and after Sidy Cissoko, it’s Victor Wembanyama’s turn to sign his contract with Spurs. Number 1 in the 2023 Draft, the Frenchman will be the highest paid rookie next season. According to the new salary cap, “Wemby” will receive $12.1 million in 2023/24, then $12.8 million in 2024/25. Then, the Spurs will have the possibility of activating “team options” to extend it for a 3rd, then a 4th year with salaries estimated at 13.4 million dollars, and finally 16.9 million dollars.
