Victor Wembanyama puts on a show against Miami!

Many, many absent for the second preseason meeting of the Spurs and Heat, Erik Spoelstra having chosen to do without Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin or even Kyle Lowry for this trip to Texas. On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama was well dressed and the Florida franchise was quickly able to notice it.

After his 20 points and 5 rebounds in 19 minutes against Chet Holmgren’s Thunder, “Wemby” this time split a game with 23 points in 23 minutes, in the victory of San Antonio against Miami (120-104)! All at 10/15 shooting (1/5 at 3-points), to go with his 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks (but also 4 lost balls).

Very leggy, Victor Wembanyama was lined up alongside Devin Vassell (21 points), Cedi Osman, Charles Bassey and Jeremy Sochan in Gregg Popovich’s five. And it didn’t take long for him to lead the way for his team in attack and defense, notably distinguishing himself in this second quarter where he scored 11 points.

With, among other things, a nice finish on the counter-attack after a pass from Jeremy Sochan or a big “alley-oop”!

Not used in the fourth quarter, when the Spurs seriously broke away on the scoreboard, “Wemby” however took the opportunity to end his meeting on a very good note after the break, achieving a nice “sidestep” and crushing especially a terrible left hand dunk!

The exclamation point to his new performance of choice in preseason, enhanced with a victory this time against Jamal Cain (24 points, 10 rebounds), Duncan Robinson (14 points, 5 assists) and others. Next meeting for San Antonio now? Houston, this Monday evening (2:00 a.m.).
