Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs sink again against the Clippers…

Nothing better than the return of Kawhi Leonard has San Antonio to motivate teammates Victor Wembanyama to end, tonight, their series of eight consecutive defeats.

Except that the meetings follow one another and are similar for “Wemby” and the Spursspanked again “in style”, this time by the Clippers therefore, who had already given them a +40 at the end of October and who were “settled” with a +25 three weeks later (124-99).

In the lead for almost the entire match, Los Angeles was able to rely on solid Paul George (28 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds) and Kawhi Leonard (21 points), while Daniel Theis (19 points, 7 rebounds), Norman Powell (19 points, 5 rebounds), James Harden (13 points, 10 assists) or Russell Westbrook (10 points, 6 assists, 3 interceptions) also proved valuable.

As for Victor Wembanyama, he finished with 9 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks, leaving Keldon Johnson (22 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) guide the team in the absence of Devin Vassell (adductor).

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Los Angeles in steamroller mode. For this growing Clippers team to give us the impression of mastering its subject and playing to its hand, it is because the level of the Spurs was very low. However, this collective performance from Tyronn Lue’s men is a pleasure to see, they who quickly took control of the game and then never let go and slowly, but surely, increased their lead (up to +28 ). Never really worried, the Angelenos therefore had a second success in a row. Time for the third the day after tomorrow, against the same opponent?

Victor Wembanyama still muzzled. Three weeks after being held to 11 points by the Clippers, “Wemby” is limited to 9 points by the same Californian team. Unable to find his rhythm for the evening, he finished at 4/12 in shooting (including 0/4 at 3-points), without having been able to influence the attack or the defense…

Great first for Sidy Cissoko. Exclusively used in the G-League since the start of the season, the Frenchman selected in 44th position in the last Draft took advantage of blowout to play his first four minutes in the NBA, against another two-way contract tricolor, Moussa Diabaté.

TOP/FLOP

The Los Angeles Collective. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard of course, but also James Harden, Daniel Theis, Norman Powell, Russell Westbrook and Ivica Zubac. Against this Spurs team in distress, Tyronn Lue’s men took the opportunity to almost all regain their confidence and gain confidence, dominating in all areas of the game (or almost). We will particularly appreciate the Californians’ cleanliness with the ball, as well as their ability to punish after losing the ball and the ease with which they obtained easy points on the line. To be repeated in two days.

⛔️ San Antonio. One wonders when this ordeal and this ugly series of defeats will end, as it is difficult to imagine Spurs getting back on track and returning to victory if they continue to play like this. Off the mark defensively, because they lack desire and are too soft, but also in difficulty offensively, because they are undisciplined and not very meticulous, Gregg Popovich’s men are clearly not moving in the right direction after a month of competition. Patience, patience…
