Utah offers Paul Reed a poisoned contract for Philadelphia…

“Free agent” protected, Paul Reed gave in to the beautiful proposal of the Jazz : $23 million over three years. Which leaves the Sixers with a decision to make: to align or not to align with this offer? They have until tomorrow night to do so.

A deal particular and poisonous for the Daryl Morey franchise because, as ESPN reportsonly the first year is guaranteed and the other two (of a total of 15.7 million dollars) will become uniquely if BBall Paul’s team reaches the conference semi-finals in 2023/24!

Clearly, if he leaves in theUtah, in a franchise under construction, Paul Reed would probably find himself tied to the Jazz for just one year. On the other hand, if Philadelphia decides to line up and keep him, the 24-year-old pivot has a good chance of validating a contract until 2026, because the Sixers have qualified for the conference semi-finals in five of the last six seasons (without going further away)…

By aligning, the Sixers would also pass the threshold of the “luxury tax” and would have to pay $ 14 million in taxes next season. This annual contract of 8 million would thus cost them 22 million dollars.

Maybe that’s why the club brought in Mo Bamba, while surprisingly keeping Montrezl Harrell.
