This weekend, Kevin Love explained that he had never been so happy to play since 2016, the year of the title alongside LeBron James.
Since then, he has suffered from depression and injuries have plagued the rest of his career, but this year he is reborn, and tonight he set the Cleveland hall on fire with nine points scored in… 67 seconds. As the city suffered a big snowstorm, the spectators needed this to warm up.
“We need him to achieve great things” says JB Bickerstaff. “We know his ability to create shots, the attention he creates around him when he is on the pitch. We need every basket, and especially at this time of the game when we had trouble scoring points. I found that Kevin had been enormous”.
After a balanced first half marked by eight changes of leaders and eleven ties with the Knicks, the Cavaliers widened the gap in the 3rd quarter, and it was therefore Kevin Love who made the difference with nine points from following in one minute, and under his leadership, Cleveland will take an 11-point lead. He will even sign a 4th 3-pointer and register 14 of his 20 points in this period.
“Winning changes a lot of things. Learn from your mistakes too” reacts inside the Cavaliers. “I talked about it a week or two ago. I think I’m still young enough to evolve even if the guys here call me “The Old Man” or “Uncle Kevin”. I find it wonderful that the public is so happy. There’s Dean Wade who puts in a big shot, it’s Evan who makes a spectacular action as he knows how to do, it’s Darius who puts a magnificent 3-pointer in the corner… These were important actions at the end of the match, and I really felt that energy. I remembered these shows that we had for four years, and it’s great to see. “
