Udonis Haslem, retired with no regrets

For the Heat, the Finals and the season are now over. For Udonis Haslem, his career ended after Game 5 in Denver. The interior is finally bowing out, at 43 and after 20 seasons in the NBA.

Finishing on a fourth champion ring, after those of 2006, 2012 and 2013, would obviously have been a perfect conclusion, but failing in the Finals is a nice consolation prize.

“I wanted to win, but I’m proud of my guys, of my team,” he comments. ” I have no regrets. I just want to thank you guys for these memories that I take with me. I have no regrets, it was a great season. They gave me a final season that I will never forget. That’s all I could ask for. »

He will not be “not far” at the recovery

We know that he now imagines himself as the owner of a franchise, and of the Heat in particular, but where will he be when the recovery takes place this fall? Is it really impossible to see him stack up again, as he has done so much in recent years?

“I won’t be far, I can say that”, he promises. ” Or precisely ? In any case, I will not be bound to make suicides. But I won’t be far. »

Before leaving his franchise forever, the Florida interior left a last message to his teammates.

“I told the guys not to forget the feeling they’re going through right now,” he says. “We must not forget this feeling. We must not forget everything that has been written or said about them. This team, more than any other for which I have played, has truly embodied what I am, what I have been defending for twenty years. We must not let anyone pigeonhole us, tell us what we should be. I’m glad they got a taste of the Finals. »
