Udoka Azubuike, Suns’ second two-way contract

Drafted by Utah in 2020 with the 27th pick, Udoka Azubuike was ultimately not retained by the Salt Lake City franchise three weeks ago. According to Adrian Wojnarowskiit was Phoenix who jumped at the chance by having him sign a “ two way contract“. The former understudy of Rudy Gobert and Walker Kessler comes out of a Summer League with Boston where he averaged 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 16 minutes over 5 games.

The Suns thus ensure the presence of a robust 5th position in the event of injury in the first team and experienced in NBA games (68 games played in three seasons, 3.3 points and 3 rebounds in 9 minutes on average). This is the second “two-way contract” recruited by Phoenix this summer after Saben Lee on July 12.

Two-way contract : designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, to develop them mainly in their development league franchise affiliate but also up to 50 NBA games.
