TyTy Washington will stretch his legs in the G-League

Injured in the left knee since October 14, TyTy Washington is now fit to play. This has even been the case for two games, but the Rockets rookie has still not seen the floor, relegated to the end of the Houston bench.

In fact, he’ll first take a detour through the anteroom, with the Rockets’ G-League affiliate team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, to find playing time and responsibilities.

“I’m happy, I can’t wait”said the player at the Houston Chronicle. “I will be able to play and find my rhythm, in addition to having fun. It’s the game I love. I’ll go over there and do what I have to do. And when I come back, I’ll wait my turn and do what I know how to help the team win games. »

Quickly seen in preseason, with a personal best 8 points in the game against the Pacers, before getting injured, TyTy Washington is one of those many players who chose the “one & done” formula at the University of Kentucky. And who necessarily have a lot to learn when they arrive in the NBA.

In Houston, we like going back and forth with the G-League, especially with Kevin Porter Jr. who spent time there before joining the major five. TyTy Washington is simply next on the list…

“He just needs to play” concludes the GM, Rafael Stone. “We place a lot of value in the G-League, as you have already seen. Almost all of our players have spent time there. In truth, it’s the exception when they don’t go. But he’s coming back from injury and he still needs to get back to match fitness. And for that, he needs minutes, which we can’t offer him [avec les Rockets]. We want to send him there so that he can come back ready as soon as possible. »
