Tyrese Maxey ready for his new 'Big Three' with Paul George and Joel Embiid

It was a make-or-break summer for the Sixers and Tyrese Maxey. With plenty of salary cap room, the Sixers were able to create a new Big Three with Paul George who joins Joel Embiid And Tyrese MaxeyThe latter, in his last year of rookie contract, obviously particularly followed his team's “free agency”.

“This is the first time in my career that I've focused so much on free agency.” recognizes the leader/back. “I’m invested in it because I know I have to play with these guys and help us win games. This was a highly anticipated free agency for us, with cap space and a lot of money available. Kudos to the owners. They’re doing a great job so far executing the plan they’ve put together. They’re putting pieces around Joel to help us compete for a title. »

Having woken up to learn of Paul George's signing, Tyrese Maxey is pleased with his new teammate's versatility. In fact, he has no doubts about his ability to fit into the game.

“He's a guy who can play so many different styles of basketball,” Tyrese Maxey believes. “When you can shoot, when you can dribble, when you can play in isolation, when you can post up and when you can defend, when you can do all these different things, you can play off the ball or with the ball, and you can create for others, you can fit in anywhere.”

Paul George more complementary than James Harden?

Above all, Paul George is capable of playing without the ball. This is good news since Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid are two players who like to play with the ball in their hands, and who use a lot of possessions.

“I feel like that's going to be his greatest strength,” So judges the one who has just extended. “To be able to be useful when Joel has the ball in the post. To play when he needs it on the pick-and-roll or to get hand-to-hand with Joel. Play off the ball if I have it. He can also play in transition. So that’ll be great.”

Tyrese Maxey played a big role in bringing “PG13” here, not by trying to convince him to join Philly, but rather by leaving room in the salary cap by finishing his rookie contract with the Sixers and not extending until this summer.

“When we talked about it last year, it was a trust thing. I trusted the front office and I feel like it's worked for us so far,” concludes “T-Max”. “It’s a good deal. I wasn’t too worried about it. All last season, my mind was focused on finding a way to win games. It was tough. Everything changed, we made trades and different things throughout the season. But the main goal was to always go out there and get better every day, and keep moving in the right direction to eventually bring a championship to Philadelphia.”
