Tyrese Haliburton’s dream? Compete in three Olympiads!

Tyrese Haliburton regained its luster after having produced its best game of the World Cup against Italy in the quarter-finals, with 18 points at 6/8 from 3-pointers, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 20 minutes. After a first season full of hope for Indiana, managing to join Team USA and play a major role in a knockout match like this is already a great accomplishment.

The final victory would be one more, even if there is still a long way to go. But don’t count on the former King to settle for that. His ultimate goal would be to compete in the Olympics. And there again, there is no question of dreaming “small”.

“My dream would be to be able to participate in three Olympic Games. That would be the goal, but obviously I have to play one first.”, he told Olympics.com.

The “Redeem Team”, the beginnings of his passion for basketball

At the beginning of July, the leader had already expressed his desire to be part of the American team, if it managed to qualify. It must be believed that the current campaign has made him all the more hungry.

If he knows that the competition will be tough for Paris 2024, Tyrese Haliburton intends to put the odds on his side, and that means a final victory in this World Cup.

“The most important thing for me is to take care of what comes before me. And I think everything will then follow in the future. I’m part of the team right now. The question is, ‘How do I get gold now?’” , he added.

If many players of his caliber are first obsessed with the NBA, Tyrese Haliburton has always had a penchant for international basketball and the prospect of defending the colors of Team USA. This is also one of the reasons why he took part in the U19 World Cup in 2019. But the Olympic Games represent the ultimate consecration for him, because it is also this competition that whetted his appetite when he was younger.

“It’s really something I’ve always wanted to do. I wasn’t old enough to watch the Olympics in 2004, but since then the United States has won every Olympics: 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2021. So as far as I’m concerned, I just want to do some part. I want to taste it”he continued. “My earliest memories are of Redeem Team in 2008. Watching all those games, I feel like that’s around when I got hooked on basketball.”
