Tyrese Haliburton: ‘Teams are starting to take us more seriously’

Rick Carlisle tried to put forward his six assists and +/- at +7 to offset the poor performance of his point guard, whose 0/9 on shots cost the Pacers dearly in the 97-92 loss to Miami.

A waste of time, Tyrese Haliburton did not take so many tweezers to qualify his performance. “I just didn’t have a great game overall”, did he quickly let go.

The leader had reason to regret his previous match at 12/15 in shooting against Brooklyn, and the performance of his teammates, five of whom scored 9 points and more. Miami’s good defense obviously played a role in its poor performance. For now, Tyrese Haliburton does not want to be more alarmist than that.

“It’s just a lack of aggression. I haven’t seen the match yet, but eight shots already attempted (note: nine) is simply not enough. Two lay-ups could have changed the whole game for me, and I think for our team. I just have to be more aggressive, to find my shooting positions, and keep in mind that 0 out of 8 shooting can change very, very quickly”.

This short setback against Miami also confirms the full potential of this team, even with one of its leaders in an evening without. Tyrese Haliburton also noticed that the Pacers’ strong start to the season hasn’t gone unnoticed by the rest of the league.

“As the games go by, the teams are starting to take us more seriously,” he added. “We are improving every day in the rankings and expectations are also increasing. We were given last in the NBA all season. Now teams are playing against us like they have their backs against the wall, and a lot of teams in the league don’t have the desired record right now. Teams are going to come to play good basketball, to play right, like Miami did.”.

Tyrese Haliburton will be on a mission to revive against the defending champion at home tonight (01:00).
