Tyler Herro: ‘I still can’t believe it’

“I watched the video and I still don’t know when I broke my hand. I still do not know. I probably shouldn’t have dived into it, but I was trying to put some energy in. We were playing outside, in my hometown. I was just trying to play hard”.

Tyler Herro indeed saw his very likely end to the season switch to a strange dive towards Grayson Allen who then had the ball at the end of the first half of Game 1 between Milwaukee and Miami. The back immediately held hands and quickly went to the locker room. The verdict was not long in coming: fractures of the middle finger and the ring finger of the right hand for four to six weeks of absence.

The Heat condemned to the exploit

The player announced that he would have surgery on Friday. He can therefore only hope that the Heat will reach the NBA finals, which will begin in early June to see a return to play this season, at best.

“That’s what we hope. There is no choice but to go all the way to the final and come back to play that moment.”, he added.

Hope is slim, and the pill is still hard to swallow, as he now has to leave his teammates after just one game at the most important moment of the season, even if the Heat surprised Milwaukee on the Game 1 to reclaim home court advantage.

“We are giving ourselves so much for this moment, to be able to be in the playoffs. I have the feeling that I had things to prove in these playoffs. It’s a difficult time. I still can’t believe it”.
