The Grizzlies and Taylor Jenkins will take a breather despite the unprecedented misery that has befallen his team for some time. While injuries accumulate and six players are currently in the infirmary, not forgetting the suspension of Ja Morant who still has a good three weeks before returning, the NBA has granted two “Hardship Exception” in order to allow Memphis to recruit two players via ten-day contracts.
These are two exteriors that were chosen, Shaquille Harrisonwho prepped with Memphis before being cut a month ago, and Jaylen Nowellwho is coming off four seasons in Minnesota and found himself a free agent after being cut by Sacramento, also just before the start of the regular season.
Not enough to get the Grizzlies (3 wins – 11 losses) out of the crisis, especially since Desmond Bane is uncertain for tonight’s match against Phoenix due to an injury to his left foot. These two reinforcements should, however, allow Taylor Jenkins to worry less about organizing his rotations.
As a reminder, the Grizzlies also received a “Disabled Player Exception” of $6.3 million to compensate for the loss of Steven Adams for the remainder of the season.
