Two more years for Jose Alvarado at the Pelicans

The beautiful story continues for Jose “GTA” Alvarado ! Undrafted in 2021 upon leaving Georgia Tech, the Puerto Rican international leader was able to seize his chance by landing a “two-way contract” with the Pelicans then making his place thanks to his characteristic style, working like a leech on his direct adversaries.

Becoming a master in the art of stealing balls, again with a unique way of doing things, he gradually proved himself indispensable in the New Orleans rotation.

Under contract for two years at $1.5 and $1.8 million per season, he was retained by the Pelicans via a $1.9 million option. And The Athletic revealed that Jose Alvarado finally reached an agreement with the “front office” to extend for two seasons, until 2025/26, to the tune of $9 million. Or 4.3 million in 2025/26 and 4.7 million in 2026/27. A “player option” was also granted to it for the final year, which will allow it to test the market in 2026.

New Orleans thus ensures a valuable rotation on the backcourt and a player capable of taking on defensive missions against the best backcourts in the league. Without forgetting that he is one of the public's favorites…
