Two freelancers at the Celtics | NBA

The “buyout” market is finally very calm with only Goran Dragic, Tristan Thompson and Jevon Carter who have been cut, to immediately find takers, and on the Boston side, we have therefore chosen to sign two players with 10-day contracts to fill its workforce.

They are two wingers, Kelan Martin and Malik Fitts. The first is the best known, since he has evolved at Wolves then at the Pacers since 2019. Leaving Butler, Brad Stevens’ former college, he averaged around 6 points and 2 rebounds this season before being released. cut by the Pacers in January.

Malik Fitts was in “two-way contract” with the Jazz where he appeared seven times this season. Last year, we saw him at the Clippers.

With their arrivals, Boston now has 14 players under contract and a player on a two-way contract with Brodric Thomas. This means that the club can still recruit two more players, including a “two-way contract”.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, mainly to develop them in their development league franchise affiliate but also up to 45 days in the NBA. In 2021, this limit is transformed into 50 appearances on the team sheet.
