Trent Forrest stays with the Hawks

Rather discreet on the transfer market for almost two months, the Hawks have come out of the woods since Hoopshype announces the signing of Trent Forrest. Like last season, the playmaker signed up via a “two-way contract” which will allow him to become more experienced in the G-League while having the opportunity to play with the first team.

The mission does not look easy since Trae Young will be supported by Patty Mills as a back-up for next season, without forgetting that Dejounte Murray can also play in the position. We will therefore probably have to go through the G-League and hope for an opportunity during the season.

Undrafted upon leaving Florida State in 2020, Trent Forrest averaged 14.7 points and 6.5 assists per game last season in 11 G-League games with the College Park Skyhawks. His “two-way contract” allowed him to play 23 NBA games averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 assists. Before that, he spent two seasons at the end of the Jazz bench.

Two-way contract : designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, to develop them mainly in their development league franchise affiliated but also up to 50 games in the NBA.
