Because his association with Draymond Green was very interesting, Trayce Jackson-Davis had a pretty good first season in the NBA, averaging 7.9 points and 5 rebounds. He notably compiled his best statistics in the second half of the season.
We will therefore have to build on this momentum and, above all, confirm it during the next financial year. “The work I put in in my first season paid off in the end. I have to build on that.”, he confirms. “There's definitely confidence around my game, the guys I'm playing with now. They know they can trust me more, and I have more confidence in myself too.”
The promise of this rookie season allowed Trayce Jackson-Davis to be selected in the “Select Team”, the training team assembled to prepare Team USA before the Olympic Games. Facing LeBron James, Kevin Durant or Joel Embiid on a daily basis, for a young player, it is necessarily beneficial. “It was fantastic, great. It was really unique to see these players together, to play against them. It was a great opportunity to be there, with another rookie. (Brandin Podziemski),” he says.
Stephen Curry, Draymond and soldiers: the winning formula?
Then he played again in the Summer League, before taking a vacation for a few weeks. The next step is this second season in the NBA, where he hopes to be more aggressive offensively. “If I can get the ball up, play the action faster, then the inside can't keep up with me and maybe it's an opportunity for Stephen Curry or Buddy Hield or Brandin Podziemski. It's going to be tough for defenses to handle that.”he believes.
Trayce Jackson-Davis is clearly optimistic about the Warriors. Sure, they lost Klay Thompson this summer and are coming off a playoff-less season, but 27 wins in their final 39 games in the 2023-24 season suggest this group has some serious potential.
“We have to continue on the momentum from the end of last season. We have the elements, we just have to be healthy and continue on this path,” insists the interior. “When everyone is there, we're really hard to beat. We still have one of the five best players in the world in Curry, the best shooter in history, and one of the greatest defenders in the world in Draymond Green. His game intelligence is unmatched. So, those two, surrounded by players who can shoot, pass and do the little things, it's tough to beat.”
