Trayce Jackson-Davis in pole position to be the starting center of the Warriors

Even if the major five could evolve depending on the oppositions, Steve Kerr should move towards the quartet Stephen Curry – Andrew Wiggins – Jonathan Kuminga – Draymond Green with a certain Tracey Jackson-Davis to complete its system.

The use of Trayce Jackson-Davis is in any case one of the lessons learned from the preseason since the pivot played 127 minutes with three starts, the latest of which was tonight, in the big victory against the Lakers C team. With his mobility and his long segments, the 24-year-old interior allows Golden State to run, and that is mainly what Steve Kerr wants this season, on throw-ins and on counter-attacks. Trayce Jackson-Davis has to sprint to provide an opportunity near the rim and open up others out wide for his teammates.

“The most important thing he told me was to play hard. And in the preseason, another thing that was important was to run, sprint to generate open shots for others, simply by putting pressure near the rim. I feel like in these three games, I've done a much better job of trying that, of doing more sprints and runs to the rim.”, thus slipped Trayce Jackson-Davisauthor of 12 points, 5 assists and 1 rebound last night.

An obvious relationship with Draymond Green

Steve Kerr also expressed his satisfaction, reiterating his desire to see his big players run to wear out the opponent as much as possible.

“We talk to him all the time. When he sprints on the pitch, you feel it. I say the same thing to Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins. We need these guys to sprint. Trayce, especially in the last three matches, has done it”he confirmed. “I'm happy we played fast in the last game. This is what I particularly expect from Wiggins, JK and Trayce. When these guys play hard on both ends of the floor, we’re a different team.”

The coach has other options, such as placing Draymond Green in the pivot position to form a “small ball” five, or even using the size and deterrent force of Kevon Looney. But for the moment it is the Draymond Green – Trayce Jackson-Davis pair who seem to hold the rope under the circle.

“Last year we had a good relationship on the pitch”said TJD. “It’s something that will continue to develop. He has already taught me a lot. I can’t wait to learn more.”

Everyone still has four days to fine-tune their automatisms before getting serious, this Wednesday in Portland.
