Towards an unsecured contract for Kemba Walker in Dallas

Cut by the Pistons before the first night of the season, having already been traded during the summer, Kemba Walker failed to bounce back in over a month. Very recently, he declared that his “hour would come” and obviously, it is for very soon.

Our colleague Mark Steinalways well-informed when it comes to the Mavericks, tells us that the playmaker is going to make a good commitment with the Dallas franchise, and he specifies that it will be for a one-year, non-guaranteed contract. Which means the former Hornets and Celtics point guard will have to prove himself.

Having not played since mid-February, Walker will need to get back into shape and rhythm, and his return to the pitch is not expected anytime soon. We will therefore not see him against the Knicks on Saturday night.

To make room for him, the Mavericks have, as expected, cut Facundo Campazzo whose move to Texas was a big flop. The objective for the Mavericks is to recover a player capable of carrying the ball, scoring points and providing outside shooting, one of the weaknesses of the Texans this season, as Jason Kidd recalled after the loss against Toronto. Clearly, someone capable of relieving Luka Doncic.

Finding himself in an ambitious team will be a great opportunity for Kemba Walker, who has clearly been losing momentum since leaving Charlotte. The former All-Star is first weighed down by his physique and his knee problems, then also by his big limits in defense.
