After having already reported it in April, our colleagues from Le Progrès confirm than the jersey in the selection of Tony Parker will be withdrawn in a year by the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and this, a few days before the opening of the Paris Olympics.
The ceremony will take place on July 12, 2024 in Décines, in the Lyon metropolitan area, in the future new ASVEL hall. A club of which “TP” is currently president and still a shareholder. The two French teams, male and female, will play the same evening.
Team USA on the program?
Regarding the opponent of the Blues for this gala match, several options are on the table and one of them leads to… Team USA! Other avenues mentioned by Le Progrès: Spain, Serbia and Australia, while we will probably have to wait for the draw for the group stage of the Olympic Games to find out more about this…
Still, it’s a new distinction for Tony Parker, who will join the Hall of Fame this weekend and who has already had the chance to see his shirt (#9) retired by the Spurs. Remember that in selection, the quadruple NBA champion won four European medals: gold in 2013, silver in 2011 and bronze in 2005 then 2015. He is also the 11th most capped player (181 caps ) and the 4th best scorer (2,741 points) of the French team…
