Tobias Harris’ father/agent angry at Sixers

For the past few days, rumors around Tobias Harris have been multiplying. Several teams are interested in the strong winger of the Sixers, who will be free in 2024, including the Suns. Even if Philadelphia does not want to let the player go, and therefore asks a lot in return, the adventure between the franchise and the latter could be coming to an end.

Especially if we follow the statements of Torrell Harris, Tobias’ father, who is also his agent. He didn’t mince words regarding his son’s experience with the Sixers…

“Personally, I don’t think so” answers the father for Bloombergwhen asked if Philadelphia used his son well. “If I say that, it’s because Tobias is a big scorer. Nobody can stop it. He proved it throughout his career, even at the Clippers: he was an assassin. The Sixers dismissed him, he was not a priority in attack. It’s frustrating for a good player to be stuck in a corner twiddling their thumbs. When given his chance, with a streak where Joel Embiid and James Harden were out for 15 games, he was averaging 25 points. Then they told him to come back to the corners. »

Torrell Harris is surely referring, exaggeratingly, to a few games in November 2022 (four precisely) where the two Sixers stars were absent, and where Tobias Harris then averaged 22.8 points.

But overall, the former Orlando is above all a complementary player, an X factor, dearly paid ($ 36 million on average per year since his contract signed in 2019), in Philadelphia.

Not sure, however, that he is more involved offensively elsewhere, while the Suns, Jazz, Mavs, Cavaliers, Pacers and Pistons have inquired about him. In another team aiming for the title, especially with the Suns, there would be Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and now Bradley Beal ahead of him in the hierarchy…
