To avoid any temptation, Michael Porter Jr prefers to stay away from social networks

Social networks have significant assets for professional sportspeople, whether it is to create closeness with fans, to communicate without filters or to take advantage of a formidable vector in terms of promotion. They also have their faults, and for Michael Porter Jr.there are too many of them to devote too much time to.

Contrary to the general trend, MPJ does not have an official X account (ex Twitter), and if he has an Instagram account, he uses it for the bare minimum, with barely more than thirty posts in five years.

Michael Porter Jr. doesn’t want to fall into the trap

The defending champion explained this, arguing that there were generally too many temptations, including from the fairer sex, for him to attach any importance to it during the NBA season.

First, we see all this incredible stuff in relation to what is happening. We also get into the comparison game, but also, as men, one of our struggles is to resist women, and there are an unlimited number of them on Instagram. If I’m at 100%, I try to focus and stay away, because it can be a trap. If this is your thing, you need to be aware of it. If that’s your thing and you can spend some time in it then take it off for a while. For me, it helped me focus,” he confided.

At the sporting level too, there is the temptation to look at what can be said about oneself. A negative remark or being made fun of can have an impact on the athlete.

Faith as a compass

For his part, Michael Porter Jr also spoke of his life as a pious man and his incompatibility with the content that can be found on social networks to justify his measured presence on the internet.

“Personally, compared to social networks and considering the time in which we live, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. This is the case for me and for many people in general. It depends on what you want out of life and what you’re trying to achieve. Me, I try to walk in my faith, to be a man of integrity and to grow. I have the impression that social networks are an obstacle to all this”he added.

The method has obviously paid off since MPJ has succeeded in one of his most successful exercises in his career with the title of NBA champion at stake.
