Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot followed the advice of Guerschon Yabusele

Absent from the French group for the Olympic Games, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot also left France this summer, after his experience at Asvel last season. Direction Spain and Baskonia. The winger will therefore discover the Liga Endes and play the Euroleague this season.

This career choice was guided by Guerschon Yabusele's experience. How? Because the new Sixers player played at Real Madrid under Pablo Laso, Vitoria's new coach.

“I obviously knew he was a great coach,” explain Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot during his presentation press conference. “I spoke to former teammates and good friends, to Guerschon Yabusele too. He told me good things about Pablo Laso.”

The silver medalist at the Paris Olympics played in the Euroleague final with Pablo Laso in 2022, while winning the Spanish championship the same year. The Baskonia coach has two Euroleagues (2015, 2018) to his name, and several domestic trophies won with Madrid.

“I think I'll have to make up my own mind. I've only been here a week, so I'll be able to say more in a year,” continues the 29-year-old Frenchman on his relationship with his coach. “I already know that we are going to have a great year and a good relationship.”
