Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kyrie Irving merge to beat New Orleans

Still without Luka Doncic, for a third game in a row, the Mavs are off to a flying start, on the shoulders of an excellent Derek Lively II, omnipresent with 4 points and 5 rebounds in 5 minutes.

Dallas takes the reins with a 12-0 (16-5). Enough to increase the tension, with a brief disagreement between Grant Williams and Brandon Ingram. The Mavs won the first quarter in a big way, behind a lively Tim Hardaway Jr. (33-17).

But the Pels reacted quickly in the second quarter, with Zion Williamson making three baskets in a row with power, then a high-altitude counter. It was a scathing 19-2 that set the record straight. And the two teams back to back at halftime (59-59).

When we return from the locker room, we take the same ones and start again. The Dukies duel resumes, with the finesse of Kyrie Irving on one side, and the power and speed of Zion Williamson on the other. NOLA places a second consecutive quarter with more than 40 points and leads by 7 lengths before the final straight (99-92).

Between two contenders for the playoffs in the West, we are treated to a heavyweight end to the match, with Josh Green who scores a clutch 3-pointer, to which Brandon Ingram responds who brings his team to -2 with 40 seconds to go . Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr. are furious offensively, and Brandon Ingram misses the 3-point equalizer at 6 seconds (125-120).

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Brandon Ingram awkward to the end. Already not in skill at the start of the match, with a 0/5 to start, the winger drank the chalice to the dregs, inheriting the ball for the equalizer 6 seconds from the end. And by “harvesting” him against Kyrie Irving… The winger finished with 12 points on 3/14 shots, including 2/7 in the second half.

The huge success of the Irving – Hardaway duo. This is only the second time that this has happened in the history of the Texan franchise, and it is again with Kyrie Irving (42 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds), that two Mavs have signed a 40-point game at the same time. . It's also a new season record for Tim Hardaway Jr. who finished with 41 points at a huge 9/15 from 3-point range, more than the entire Pels team (7/23)!

Zion Williamson in sight. A little cold in the first quarter, the strong winger however heated up afterwards, with a number of sharp escapades all the way to the circle. With his ability to outrun his direct opponent on his dribble, and to finish powerfully, Zion Williamson (30 points) was the major architect of NOLA's comeback. But, like Ingram, without being able to make the decision at the end of the match (clumsiness with throws in particular: 6/11)…
