Thunder cuts Aleksej Pokusevski

As we could not see with Killian Hayes, it is very rare when a franchise separates from a player still on his rookie contract. However, this is unfortunately what also happens to Aleksej Pokusevski. The Athletic announces that the managers have chosen to cut him, and he should leave OKC with a check for five million dollars, the remainder of his contract.

So promising during his first season with his atypical physique and his complete game, the Serb never recovered from his repeated injuries. There was a fractured tibia, then a broken arm, a dislocated shoulder… As a result, he only played 44 matches over the last two seasons, and even missed the World Cup.

A boon for Olivier Sarr?

To make matters worse, he saw Chet Holmgren arrive, and this season, he is painfully averaging 1.2 points. Before that, he averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds over his first three seasons.

It will be complicated for him to find a place on an NBA roster, and we can expect him to return to Europe. At 22, he still has his entire career ahead of him.

His departure could bring happiness to Frenchman Olivier Sarr since his “ two-way contract » could be converted into a classic contract to end the season.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to develop them mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
