The Mavs' TV ratings could soar next year. The Texans have reached a multi-year deal for local broadcast rights that, according to the franchisewill triple the number of people who will be able to watch most of the reigning Western Conference champion's games for free.
The agreement with TEGNA, which goes into effect next season, will provide approximately 10 million people in more than 3 million Texas homes with access to broadcasts of games that are not exclusively televised nationally.
The announcement comes after the Mavs and financially troubled Diamond Sports Group decided last month to end their agreement for broadcast rights to Bally Sports Southwest.
Surfing the latest Finals
The Mavs' goal is of course to ride the wave of the NBA Finals played last June by Luka Doncic and his teammates to reach an even wider audience.
” Our new agreement with TEGNA helps us achieve this goal by bringing more games to more local homes than at any time in franchise history. […] More Mavs fans than ever will be able to watch the team they love “, rejoices the boss of the franchise Patrick Dumont.
” Mavs fans, our audience and our advertising partners responded incredibly to the ten games we made available last season, and we are excited to continue that momentum and make every game, home and away, accessible to more fans, in more homes. “, supports Brad Ramsey, vice president of media operations at TEGNA.
