Three new assistants on Jason Kidd’s Dallas staff

After having suffered the refusal of Nate McMillan three weeks ago, Dallas recruited two new faces to compose the staff of Jason Kidd. The first assistant is named Josh Broghamer, who was Kidd’s assistant in Milwaukee before joining Cleveland.

Bryan Gates arrives from Phoenix, where he played alongside Monty Williams for the past two seasons. Passed by the G-League as an assistant then a coach, Bryan Gates will begin his 14th season in the NBA. It will be his fifth franchise after Sacramento (2009-2010 and 2016-2019), New Orleans (2010-2015), Minnesota (2015-2016 and 2019-2021) and therefore Phoenix.

Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd reunited

The 3rd recruit is named Alex Jensen, and he is the best known of all. Often cited to take the reins of a team, he remains on a ten-year experience in the staff of Utah, where he was Quin Snyder’s first assistant for several seasons. He was also a valuable element in the development of Rudy Gobert, three times voted best defender of the year. His goal could be to do the same with rookie Dereck Lively II (19 years old, 2.16m).

To note that Tyson Chandler has also been hired as an assistant on the Summer League within the staff which will be led by Jared Dudley, himself assistant to Jason Kidd. Considered the best pivot in the history of the franchise, Chandler will also be able to bring his touch to help develop Lively II.
