Three finalists for the position of coach in Toronto?

With Ime Udoka and very recently Adrian Griffin, the Houston and Milwaukee franchises have already found their new coach. On the other hand, on the side of Toronto, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Detroit, it is not yet done.

For the Raptors, based on information from The Star, the leaders will begin the second phase of interviews with the candidates. Appointments are made and only three candidates remain. Except that no name came out in the press…

We can imagine that Steve Nash and Jordi Fernandez are part of this trio. The first would have made a strong impression during his interview, and he is the only candidate to have a first experience as a “head coach” in the NBA. As for the second, he is very courted since he is also among the finalists in Phoenix, and Mark Stein reports that his profile challenges the direction of the Raptors. We know that Masai Ujiri, the president of the Raptors, can give the keys to the truck to a beginner, since he did it with Nick Nurse in 2019.

For the rest, the Raptors met Becky Hammon, David Adelman, JJ Redick and Sergio Scariolo. Maybe some are in this trio. There is no indication, however, that Monty Williams, who repelled the Pistons, has been approached at any time by Toronto since his forced departure from Phoenix.
