The birth of the Valley Suns in the G-League recently made official, we then had to fill this team. As with the Grizzlies and the Raptors in the NBA almost thirty years ago, in 1995, a somewhat special Draft, called an expansion Draft, was organized.
The principle is simple: the G-League teams protected 12 players and the rest were available for the new team. So, on Thursday, the Valley Suns picked here and there to take 14 players and assemble a first squad.
Among the selected players, there are well-known names. Already, there is a Frenchman, with Theo Maledon. The latter has also played four matches with the Suns, in the NBA, this season.
Then there is Jahlil Okafor, third choice in the 2015 Draft, who has 247 games in his legs, in Philadelphia, New Orleans and Detroit. Or Emmanuel Mudiaydrafted the same year as his new teammate, by the Nuggets and who has 302 matches in the Big League.
Finally, we can highlight the presence of Denzel Valentinedrafted by the Bulls in 2016, who never managed to establish himself in the NBA due to injuries, despite two interesting first seasons.
