The wrong anthem played for South Sudan…

Big hiccup at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve d'Ascq, for this second day of the men's tournament of the Olympic Games.

After the Puerto Rican anthem, the spectators were waiting for the South Sudanese anthem, a highlight for this young country, whose basketball team goes beyond the sporting framework. Except that after a few seconds, and given the reaction of the Sudanese supporters present in the stands, everyone quickly understood that something was wrong…

In fact, it was the Sudanese anthem that was played, naturally provoking the ire of South Sudanese fans.

But in a pure “Olympic” moment, after the wrong anthem was stopped, the entire stadium began to applaud, while the organizers found the right music file, which could be sung by the Royal Ivey players.
