The United States has started the 2024 Olympics in the best possible way, and here they are one step away from the final. Some even compare the depth of its roster to the 1992 Dream Team. But in this episode, Histoire(s) de basket looks at the worst of what Team USA has had to offer. The biggest American disappointment since NBA players have been on international courts.
Of course, we're excluding the one from 1998, which was made up of second-tier players. At the time, the NBA was on strike and NBA stars couldn't participate in the World Cup… On the other hand, in 2019, there is no strike.
After the successes in 2010 and 2014, the United States could achieve the first treble in the history of the World Cup. Except that the project quickly turned into a fiasco with a horrible seventh place in the international competition.
