The Warriors, the main redistributors for small markets in the NBA

The collective agreement in the NBA is redistributive, the big markets donating part of their profits to the small markets, which logically have more difficulty in closing their accounts in the positive.

ESPN just revealed the redistribution for the previous season (2021/22) with Warriors who were the main redistributors. Indeed, the franchise of Joe Lacob and Peter Gruber donated 45 million dollars, slightly more than the Lakers (42.8), and much more than the Knicks (20.9), the Celtics (15.7) and the Bulls (10) .

Above all, as they also paid 170 million in “luxury tax”, and 50% of these sums are also redistributed, the Warriors therefore donated more than 130 million dollars to the other franchises!

In total, the 10 largest markets paid $163.6 million to the 20 smallest markets, the Mavericks (8.8), Sixers (6.4), Heat (5.1), Clippers (5) and Nets (3) therefore accompanying the Warriors, Lakers, Knicks, Celtics and Bulls in this redistribution effort.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Pacers took home the most money, with $42.2 million. Ahead of the Nuggets (35.5), Blazers (32), Hornets (31.6), Kings (29.9), Pelicans (28.9), Grizzlies (28), Spurs (26.3), Wolves (25.6), Magic (23.4), Pistons (21.5), Cavaliers (19.9), Thunder (17.5), Jazz (11.7), Hawks (10.8), Wizards (7.2), Bucks (6.7), Raptors ( 2.1), the Suns (1.6) and the Rockets (0.9).
