The Warriors have never missed Draymond Green more

After having three losses in four games, the Warriors suffered again last night by losing at home against Toronto. Before the match, however, Steve Kerr's men found a smile again by recording the return to the squad of Draymond Green, suspended for 12 games for throwing a punch at Jusuf Nurkic. One more slip-up which therefore earned him a suspension until further notice.

His reinstatement was finally approved by the NBA and the person concerned was therefore able to participate in his first collective work session in preparation for receiving the Raptors.

The session marked the start of the last stage for Draymond Green, with a view to returning to the courts, since he will have to get back into shape. Enthusiasm was in any case high in the ranks of Steve Kerr, Draymond Green remaining an important element of their system.

“Everyone is happy to see him again. He's one of our leaders and he's happy to be back, so there was a good atmosphere.”, also rejoiced Steve Kerr. “He goes to work with Rick Celebrini every day. There will be a lot of shooting, scrimmages, but I have no idea when he will return.”

The return of a strong link

According to ESPN, the 33-year-old veteran interior's return to form could last a good week. Golden State's goal will undoubtedly be to be able to take him with the rest of the group for the four-game road trip that awaits the Warriors starting Friday in Chicago. Time is starting to run out as the franchise is in a worrying 11th place in the West.

“We will never be the same until he is on the team,” Klay Thompson said about Draymond Green. “We can’t wait for him to get back on the field and he’s obviously the backbone of this team, its heart and soul. I can't wait to see Draymond back on the pitch. He will make the difference.”

Same feeling among the young Trayce Jackson-Davis, who did not have much opportunity to play with him. “I have the impression that he is a strong link and that he talks a lot. Even when he was on the bench (against Toronto), he talked to us, told us what to do. He’s an important man in the locker room and our team needs him.”

Regain communication in defense

If only for his presence and his voice, Steve Kerr is impatiently awaiting the return of his defensive leader. Because last night, his Warriors were catastrophic in the field…

“The only thing that interested me in the second half was the competitive spirit”concludes Steve Kerr. “That means speaking in defense. It was quiet in the first half. We needed to talk, to exchange, to connect. I chose to change the five (which started the second half) because I thought she would give us that, and that's what she did. We made a good comeback in the third quarter, but it wasn't enough. »
