The Warriors' burst of pride

What if ultimately the 2024 Warriors were the antithesis of the 2023 Warriors? Dominators at the Chase Center last season, Stephen Curry's teammates are having a lot of difficulty this season in front of their audience. Conversely, they are much better away, and they proved it by winning last night 140-131 in Chicago.

However, they were not at their best after two humiliating losses against the Raptors and the Pelicans, to the point of being whistled by their fans. To which must be added the Moses Moody package for this “road trip”! We were all the more worried as the Bulls led by 13 points at the break, with the Warriors defense still as porous.

Lose, but with dignity

And then, the “Splash Brothers” will find their feet again, and especially Klay Thompson, and all of Golden State will find life again with an almost perfect 3rd quarter to return to victory.

“It’s one thing to lose, and another to be humiliated” recalls Kevon Looney. “In the last two games, we had the feeling of having been humiliated. We weren't giving our all, and we weren't playing to our standards. When you are humiliated like that, you have to respond, and we did it tonight. We needed it for the team, our mind and our morale.”

For Steve Kerr, the Warriors remained in their worst period of the season, and the coach included the complicated victory against the Pistons.

“We lost our way emotionally and mentally in the last two matches,” Kerr believes. “Our supporters felt it. We got booed for the first time since I've been here in 10 years, and both nights we deserved it because our energy and competitive spirit wasn't there. And we found him this evening.”

A franchise record equaled

There are figures that do not deceive like the 39 assists, the 56 points conceded after the break and above all the only 5 lost balls. It’s a franchise record tied!

“First it’s about how we feel in the dressing room and how disappointed we are with our performances,” concludes Curry. “The disappointment comes from knowing we can play better. That doesn't mean we're going to win every game, but we just want to play better and I think that's what we did tonight. Now we have to start again. »

And it will be complicated to start again since the Warriors are traveling to Milwaukee this evening…
